wings
I'm a woman with dreams,
Searching for love, yearning for protection,
But I'm a woman with dreams.
With a long list in hand to check off,
Planning my life since I was young, no time to waste,
I can't afford to relax, nor to go down,
I won't sacrifice my hard-earned wings,
won't let them be clipped, no frown.
I can't simply trust a man to save me,
Love is often fleeting, not always a guarantee,
It's an emotion that can easily be replaced,
By someone more convenient, love's not tightly encased.
My wings, I'm healing with care,
Rebuilding from the ground, it's only fair,
I've fallen countless times, what's the difference now?
Happiness isn't just love, there's more to life somehow.
